The documentaries will move you. Plus, proceeds benefit Green Empowerment, Gawad Kalinga, and Philippine documentary filmmakers. Good flicks, treats, and people too.

Portland, OR Moonrise Film Festival: April 25-26

I hope you’ll join me for dinner and a movie on Friday, April 25th. The Moonrise Film Festival is returning to Portland this year to showcase Filipino documentaries highlighting environmental and social issues in the Philippines. We’re thrilled that the FilmFest is back this year – Portland is the only US city to hold the event.

Details:
  • Friday, April 25th at 6pm: Filipino dinner followed by Batad, a full-length feature film. $25/person, $40/couple, $60/family
  • Saturday, April 26th: 4pm matinee and 7pm showings of award winning Lawa ng Bae plus 3 short films
  • All proceeds will benefit the delivery of potable water, watershed restoration, and renewable energy based electricity and lighting in rural agrarian villages throughout the Philippines with the help of Green Empowerment.

The 2007 Portland Moonrise Film Festival was an exciting introduction to the Philippines’ showcase of documentaries presenting social, environmental, and cultural issues in the Philippines. Join us at The Mom Shop on Saturday, August 18. It’s 10 am to 5 pm at Portland State University’s Smith Memorial Ballroom (1825 SW Broadway, Portland, OR 97201).

This event features locally-owned businesses run by moms. Find baby and children’s clothing and accessories, women’s clothing and accessories, schools and programs, gifts and home decor, stationery, spa services, pregnancy and post-partum services, healthcare practitioners, fitness programs, graphic design services, custom art pieces, baby keepsakes, mortgage brokers, office & meeting spaces, banks, event services, cupcakes, baby food, cafes, and more!

There’s going to be a children’s activity center, workshops, swag bags, and raffles. We’d love to meet you and have you check out our fun products! See you there…

DETAILS: Admission is $3 per adult and kids 12 and older; kids under age 12 get in for free. Admission price includes one raffle ticket. Raffle Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. Proceeds benefit the Bradley-Angle House. Day parking passes are available for $3 at the 6th street entrance kiosk. Attendees may wish to park on the 4th floor of the parking structure. There is a skybridge that leads directly from the 4th floor to the 3rd floor of the Smith Union, where the ballroom is located.
